1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the GeoAstra BLE-GNSS mobile applications for Apple iOS and Google Android (the “Apps”), including related in-app features such as Bluetooth GNSS connection, NTRIP configuration, data collection (points/tracks), playback, and export.

This Policy does not replace:

If you use those websites or online services, their respective policies also apply.

2. Who we are

The Apps are provided by GPSWebShop (Canada) Inc. under the GeoAstra brand.
If you have questions about this Policy or your information, contact us at info@gpswebshop.com.

3. Summary

Topic Typical practice in the Apps
Account login Not required for core App features
Primary storage On your device (local)
Bluetooth Used to scan and connect to compatible GNSS receivers
Location / GNSS Obtained from the connected receiver (and shown/recorded in the App)
NTRIP You may configure a caster; the App connects to servers you specify
Analytics / ads We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the Apps (as of the last update date)
Sale of personal information We do not sell your personal information

4. Information we process

Depending on how you use the Apps, the following categories may be processed:

4.1 Information from GNSS / Bluetooth devices

  • Bluetooth identifiers and names of nearby or paired GNSS receivers you scan or connect to
  • GNSS-derived positioning and related receiver status (for example coordinates, altitude, fix quality, satellites, and similar telemetry delivered by the receiver over Bluetooth)
  • Diagnostic or console log text you choose to view or export for troubleshooting

4.2 Information you enter in the Apps

  • Device display names and saved receiver configurations
  • NTRIP settings you enter (for example host, port, mount point, username, and password)
  • Network / NMEA output settings you configure
  • Names and metadata for projects, points, and tracks

4.3 Information you create while surveying / logging

  • Survey projects and recorded points / tracks (coordinates, timestamps, altitudes, notes, and similar fields)
  • Exported files you generate (for example when sharing or saving data via the system share sheet)

4.4 Limited technical information on your device

  • App preferences and local databases stored by the operating system for the Apps
  • Standard OS-level permissions you grant (for example Bluetooth permission prompts)

We do not require you to create a GPSWebShop or GeoAstra account inside the Apps to use core features described above.

5. How we use information

We process the information above to:

  • Connect to and operate with compatible BLE GNSS receivers
  • Display live GNSS status and maps
  • Provide RTK / NTRIP workflows using your configured caster endpoints
  • Record, play back, edit, and export survey data at your request
  • Remember your device and settings on that phone/tablet
  • Help diagnose connection or configuration issues when you use built-in logs/export tools

6. Where information is stored and who receives it

6.1 On-device storage

By default, App configurations and recorded projects/points/tracks are stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the Apps typically removes local App data (subject to OS backup/restore behavior you control).

6.2 Connections you initiate

  • NTRIP: If you enable NTRIP, the Apps send and/or receive correction-related data to/from the NTRIP host you configure. That host may be operated by you, your employer, GeoAstra NTRIP Caster, or a third party. Their privacy and security practices apply to data handled on their systems.
  • Local NMEA / network output (if enabled): The Apps may stream NMEA or related output to devices or software on your local network as you configure.
  • Export / share: If you export or share files, those files leave the Apps according to the destination you choose (Files, email, cloud apps, etc.).

6.3 GPSWebShop / GeoAstra servers

The Apps are designed so that core surveying workflows do not automatically upload your project database to GPSWebShop servers. We do not use the Apps to sell your personal information.

If you separately use GeoAstra online services (such as an NTRIP caster account), that use is governed by the applicable GeoAstra service terms and privacy materials (for example https://geoastra.com/security-privacy).

6.4 Service providers

We may use infrastructure or professional service providers for company operations (for example website hosting for this Policy page). They process information only as needed to provide services to us and under appropriate obligations.

6.5 Legal requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

7. Permissions

iOS

The Apps may request Bluetooth access to scan and connect to GNSS receivers. iOS shows a system permission prompt; you can change this later in iOS Settings.

Android

The Apps may request permissions required for Bluetooth scanning/connection and related features as shown by the Android system. You can manage permissions in Android Settings.

Denying required permissions may prevent corresponding features from working.

8. Retention

  • On-device App data: Retained until you delete it in the Apps, clear App storage, or uninstall the Apps (and subject to any device backups you maintain).
  • Exported copies: Retention depends on where you saved or sent them.
  • NTRIP / third-party systems: Retention follows the operator of those systems.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain information about processing of your personal information.

For the Apps, practical controls include:

  • Disconnecting Bluetooth devices and clearing saved device settings in the Apps
  • Deleting projects, points, tracks, or exported files you control
  • Uninstalling the Apps
  • Changing OS permissions

To make a privacy request related to this Policy, email info@gpswebshop.com. We will respond within a reasonable period and as required by applicable law (we aim to respond within 30 days where required).

10. Children

The Apps are not directed to children under 16 (or a higher age if required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for the Apps. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Apps, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

11. International users

GPSWebShop (Canada) Inc. is based in Canada. If you use the Apps from another country, you understand that on-device processing occurs on your device, and any network connections you configure (such as NTRIP) may involve other countries according to those endpoints.

12. Third-party links and products

The Apps may interact with third-party GNSS hardware, casters, maps, or system share destinations. We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices. Review their policies separately.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we post revisions on this page. Continued use of the Apps after an update means you accept the revised Policy, to the extent permitted by law. Material changes may be highlighted on this page or through other reasonable notice.
