The GeoAstra C2-X20P-DU is a compact high-precision GNSS board built on the next-generation u-blox X20P engine — not the older dual-band F9-class chips that dominated the last generation of RTK boards.

It focuses on what OEM integrators need most from the X20P platform: all-band multi-constellation tracking, centimeter-class RTK, and true satellite-based PPP (no base, no NTRIP subscription required for the PPP path) — in a lean USB-C carrier without onboard cellular or Bluetooth modules.

Interface highlights: USB-C · MMCX antenna · UART / I2C / PPS headers · status LEDs (ANT / 3D / RTK / PWR).

GeoAstra · u-blox X20P (all-band) · Built-in PPP · RTK 0.6 cm + 1 ppm · up to 25 Hz · USB-C · MMCX

1) Next-Gen u-blox X20P — A Clear Step Beyond F9P

For years, many high-precision boards centered on the popular u-blox ZED-F9P (dual-band L1/L2 RTK). The X20P is u-blox’s newer all-band platform — more signals per satellite, stronger availability in difficult sky conditions, and native support for modern correction methods that F9P simply does not offer.

Capability Typical F9P-class boards GeoAstra C2-X20P-DU (u-blox X20P)
GNSS bands Dual-band (mainly L1 / L2) All-band L1 / L2 / L5 / L6 (E6)
Correction modes RTK · PPP-RTK RTK · PPP-RTK · Global PPP (incl. Galileo HAS)
L-band / satellite corrections Not built into the F9P engine the same way Integrated L-band / global PPP path
Update rate Typically up to ~10 Hz RTK Up to 25 Hz (RTK / PPP-RTK / PVT / RAW)
Tough sky (urban / canopy) Good in open sky More signals → better availability near buildings / obstacles
Channels Lower-channel dual-band class 672 channels

→ If you already know F9P boards: X20P is the upgrade path for all-band tracking, faster updates, and PPP that works without a local RTK network

2) Built-in PPP — High Accuracy Without RTK Base or NTRIP

Most “high-precision” workflows still assume you need something else in the system:

  • an RTK base station (or a paid NTRIP / RTK network subscription), and
  • a real-time radio or internet link between base and rover — or, for PPK, a second logger plus office post-processing later (see our community guide on PPK with Columbus EX-1).

Those methods work, but they add cost, setup, and logistics. PPP (Precise Point Positioning) on the X20P is different: the receiver uses correction data delivered from satellites / global PPP services (such as Galileo HAS), so you can get high-precision results without deploying your own base and without an NTRIP account.

  • No RTK subscription service required for the PPP path
  • No local RTK base to install, power, or survey-in
  • No NTRIP caster / cellular phone tether just to receive corrections for PPP
  • Typical PPP accuracy on this platform: horizontal < 10 cm, vertical < 20 cm (RMS)
  • Also supports PPP-RTK (< 6 cm H) when SSR / SPARTN-style services are available

→ Turn on the board, track satellites, and get high-precision positioning from the sky — without building an RTK infrastructure first

3) RTK When You Need Centimeter Performance

When you want classic RTK (highest accuracy, shortest convergence), feed RTCM corrections from your own base, radio link, or an external NTRIP client / modem into the board over USB or UART. The C2-X20P-DU keeps the RF and positioning core lean — you bring the correction transport that fits your vehicle, robot, or instrument.

  • RTK performance on this platform: 0.6 cm + 1 ppm horizontal · 1.0 cm + 1 ppm vertical (RMS), convergence typically < 7 s
  • Works as a clean OEM GNSS carrier: host MCU or industrial PC handles networking
  • Same X20P measurement quality for surveying, automation, and raw-data workflows

→ Use PPP when you want zero RTK infrastructure — or inject RTCM when you want full centimeter RTK

Why This Board Fits OEM Designs

Remote / rural work

Use PPP when there is no nearby base and you do not want a correction subscription.

→ High precision from satellites alone

Network RTK sites

Bring RTCM from your own modem, radio, or host NTRIP client for centimeter RTK.

→ Flexible correction path

Simple host link

USB-C for power and data, plus UART / I2C / PPS headers for embedded integration.

→ Fewer wireless modules to certify

OEM product design

All-band X20P performance in a compact carrier aimed at robotics, UAVs, and instruments.

→ Positioning core without cellular / Bluetooth baggage

Accuracy figures are typical RMS values for the u-blox X20P platform and depend on sky view, antenna, baseline / service quality, and multipath. PPP / PPP-RTK availability depends on supported global or regional correction services (e.g. Galileo HAS). F9P comparison points reflect commonly published ZED-F9P vs ZED-X20P differences from u-blox / industry sources. Mechanical dimensions, weight, and detailed pin electrical ratings will be published when final documentation is available.

What's in the Box

  • GeoAstra C2-X20P-DU GNSS High-precision Positioning Board × 1

→ Antenna, MMCX→SMA pigtail, and host cables are not included with the board alone

Optional Antennas

The C2-X20P-DU uses an MMCX antenna port on Main. Pair it with a multi-band high-precision antenna for best RTK / PPP results. Shop antennas below use SMA — when you purchase the antenna from us, an MMCX→SMA pigtail can be included so it mates with this board. Board-only orders do not include the pigtail.

→ Antenna sold separately — choose BY403 for a larger survey-style mount, or HAK-1 for a light helical kit
