Why does the P-10 Pro or P-7 Pro get less accuracy reading when testing by some apps?
Posted by jack wu on
The accuracy calculated by many apps in the market is based on a single frequency satellite system, whose accuracy values are converted from the HDOP values. The accuracy value of dual-frequency GNSS receivers (P-7 Pro, P-10 Pro) can not simply be converted this way, (The coordinate reading of those apps are accurate though. ) so please do not rely on those accuracy readings. To properly test the accuracy of P-7 Pro, please follow the below "Columbus" official instruction. This instruction apply to P-10 Pro as well. https://cbgps.com/p7/app/gnsstoolkit/cep/index_en.htm
Why can't you see the constellations and number of satellites when using the P-10 Pro as a USB GNSS receiver?
Posted by jack wu on
The current firmware (V2.2) of the P-10 Pro does not open the GSV and GSA sentences, but only the GGA and RMC sentences. So it doesn't contain any information about constellations and individual satellites, that's the reason why you can't see the constellations and number of satellites within the GnssToolKit software or other testing tools.
The explanation of vertical accuracy of P-7 pro or P-10 Pro
Posted by jack wu on
According to the technical specs, the vertical accuracy of Columbus P-7 Pro or P-10 Pro GNSS is 15 meters. I was told by the Columbus engineer, the 15 meters vertical accuracy originates from the GPS chipset technical specs. In the real world tests, the average vertical accuracy is around 5 meters. Compared to the 50 meters vertical accuracy of most single frequency GPS/GNSS , the P-7 Pro or P-10 Pro still has great advantages.
How long does it take for a MicroSD memory card inside Columbus P-10 Pro or P-1 to be recognized?
Posted by jack wu on
Your P-10 Pro / P-1 MicroSD memory can be recognized as an external driver when the device is turned off and plugged into a computer. Usually, for a 4GB - 32GB memory card, it takes 10-30 seconds to be recognized by the computer. If the memory card is larger than 32GB, the time needed will be increased accordingly. You might need to be a little bit more patient to wait for the external drive to show up.
